    Tom and Everybody,

It's a great event. Anybody that whines and complains is just somebody that you couldn't please no matter what you did.

I'd practiced like a wild man in the weeks before the first event. And that held me in good stead, I shot like a champ in practice. I'd have made the final team the way I was shooting. But I got nervous and fell apart on my qualifying round. That's how competition works, it's all about skill and steel nerves.

Now the event has begun to attract some real shooters. So it's harder for an average (more like below average) shooter such as myself to make the kind of score you need to be on the final squad.

But do you hear me complaining about it? No

This is a competition. So the guys that have the skill and the steel nerves are going to be the ones on the final team. If you think you're one of those guys, do a lot of practicing, bring plenty of cartridges, and go for it.

If you're not one of those, then bring a good cigar to smoke while you watch the guys that are shoot the final round. But still bring plenty of cartridges and shoot as well, cause it's fun. It's a fantastic event whether you get one of the hats or not. You get to meet and visit with guys who have only been names on a BBS. You get to see great guns, be they Smith or Parker. You get to sit on the edge of your seat and try to count broken targets when your team of choice is at the traps. You get to feel the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat and both teams have felt both.

And best of all, you get to meet the ol' MarketHunter himself because I always put in an appearance. *wink*
