It is always fun to explore. I wish we had the input of the managers of the time. (I also enjoy the history of management.) During the time period we are discussing, inventory value was not much of a consideration. Taxes, "just in time delivery" were not the issues of today. Discussing weights..my 5-e also had the shorter 7-1/2 inch splinter forarm. (Again, small sample, but maybe more than we would expect based on the article "L.C. Smith Minutiae and other Musings, The Double Gun & Single Shot Journal, Part II, Autumn2006) I understand marketing, but who was really producing the really light (FW) shotgun of the period? I think it was L.C. Smith for those who would request and pay for the value of ownership.
