Your right! How could I tell. It was the most chipped barrells I have ever seen on an L.C. Smith product. Even after someone tried to smooth, you could see how much damage had been done. What would you guess made such damage? (Could it be slugs or steel shot?)Remember it has the marks on the top side of the barrells that some type of sight had to have been mounted. (I would guess a tube type.) The gun was manufactured in 1929. The barreslls are Krupp with an over roll for London Steel. (I would guess they were manufactured prior to 1913) Normal over roll for Idea Grades for the date manufactured. I would guess these high quality Krupp barrells had been in inventory for a long time; Waiting for the "War To End All Wars" to actually "end". I would really appreciate anyone's input. Does anyone know if Krupp barrells were sent to the U.S. in tubes and then cut here or if they came in with length specifications. I have other Krupp steel guns of different time eras. I would like to learn more. Thank you for your feedback!
