Andrew: Although I have not seen your gun, I do not believe you would be required to replace the hinge pin to put your gun back on face. I have seen a number of guns loose on the hinge, including Smith guns, placed back on face by installing a dove-tailed piece in the barrel lug; then filing/fitting same to fit the worn original hinge pin. A really good gunsmith can perform this modification so that the dovetail is not even visible. Now I can't tell you if this repair method is less expensive than a new hinge pin, although I can't see why it shouldn't be less expensive; and futher, effecting the repair in this manner would allow the engraving on the original pin to remain intact.
