It depends on the course. Birkdale is great because most of the holes are framed by large sand dunes, so you've almost got natural grandstands there to be able to get a good view from. There can be a lot of walking involved if you want to follow a particular group of players. You can get really close to the action at times though, and only up close do you really appreciate how good these lads are. The power they generate is amazing to see. The Amateur championship and Open Qualifying (free entry) are brilliant because you get to walk next to the players on the fairway and stand a couple of feet away as they're hitting.
