After some thinking, and review of some discussion already here on the RCMB -
Accession and Proclamation - http://members.boardhost.com/coronation/msg/1365773716.html
The Coronation Oath over the Centuries - http://members.boardhost.com/coronation/msg/1369474506.html
I do believe that the coronation ceremony is now entirely doomed.
I would like to think that the Church of England could conduct its own ceremony if it chose so to do - and any other creed could do likewise but not using the regalia - but that would all lead to a fine mess! Ceremonies would go on for weeks and weeks.
Most likely in future, only accession and proclamation ceremonies will occur, but without any reference to any spiritual matters at all, which would be unfortunate in my view.
What would the monarch swear to uphold? Love and happiness for all going forward?
