These two chairs belong to a set of furniture that Queen Wilhelmina was given by the city of Amsterdam. It contains 5 of these chairs a sofa, 4 stools and one or two footstools. They were upholstered in pale blue fabric and embroidered with a central vase of flowers. The design is inspired by designs of Daniel Marot who worked for William and Mary.

For this event two chairs received a new gold damask upholstery and the embroidered lions are taken from the chairs used by Queen Beatrix and prince Claus in 1980. The chairs of 1980 could not be reused as they were too low and it would have looked clumsy if the new king sat on them.
