Re: Timing Belt
I have changed the timing belt every 50k oil every 5k since I bought it new. Now has only 165k on it so this last belt only had about 15k on it but was at least five years old. It has not been driven much since 2000 but I crank it up regularly just to keep everything lubed and turning free. I bought it for my three kids who are now grown to learn to drive a 4sp. Marks are definitely lined up. Will pull plugs to check compression and plugs for fouling. Will probably change plugs since I don't remember when they were changed last. Autolite wires have been on it since early 1990s. Wires very difficult since it also has A/C. Yes, it is a rare CS 2dr 4sp with A/C. Pulled engine out about 5 yrs ago just to change all gaskets to stop oil leaks and changed timing belt at that time also. I also change water pump every time I changed the timing belt to hopefully save work later. I mostly use it to pull a small trailer hauling yard trimmings etc to my local landfill. Posted on this site yrs ago with pics where I pulled a load to landfill and reached speeds of 85+.
