Hakeem Jeffries says we will fight Trump's agenda in the streets.

I am sure the resident leftists in here would not just let that comment slide if say, MTG encouraged people to take it to the streets. No, we would hear the Hitler stuff and how Hitler is calling out his cult. But it's Hakeem, so all is well, no big deal. Its Trump's fault that he said that.

I would say fighting it legislatively means in the halls of Congress. I think taking it to the streets is a call for protest and or rioting. Maxine did hit before and Hakeem is in the same mindset.

He and groups like BLM may see a different response this time.

Peaceful protests are acceptable and part of our rights as Americans, if they cross the line into violence and destruction of property, I don't think any Democrats, other than "extremists" (Dems or Republicans) would encourage that.

The reason some on the Right are salivating and feigning shock over Jeffries remark is because they know Trump has been called out many times for his violent rhetoric. Look it up, I'm not going to take the time to name them all, but you'll find plenty of direct quotes from him.

As for the prices? So we know egg prices were going up for to over a million birds being killed due to bird flu. Actually I’m surprised Biden didn’t claim killing the birds saved humans so it’s worth eggs going up.

No one should ever bitch or brag about gas prices because no administration has any more control over that than they do the stock market.

Car price up? Maybe but if you look at dealer lots like Laura Buick, no one is buying them anyway.

So far I like two things Trump promised to do and is doing. The border crossings are way down and a few thousand animals have been returned to their countries. Hopefully they have death penalties
Second is making lazy government workers get out of their Jammie’s and fuzzy slippers to return to work. I don’t like offering buyouts to lazy people. If they don’t show for work on the appointed day, fire them.

Why do we possibly think working from home with no supervision is productive? I mean maybe during COVID but that’s been over for years now.

Opi - I have been working from home since before Covid and I can assure you myself and my Team are very productive or we wouldn't have our jobs and meet our goals. If you have skilled people who are meeting their job requirements they are going to be just as productive, if not more, from home. Less distractions, no commute time, more flexibility.

That said, I'm sure there are some who take advantage of it and slack off, but they would likely be doing the same if they were on site. I know several Federal employees who work in cybersecurity, from home, who are highly qualified and get the job done.

My point is, you can't assume every Federal employee working from home is unproductive. I'm held accountable for everything I do and require no supervision. There are ways to assure employees who do require supervision can still work from home and be held accountable.

It's not uncommon for corporations to offer buy out packages, although they are typically offered to those with a certain number of years of service and are of a certain age. The key to capturing cost savings is to not replace those workers that leave and requiring those that remain to absorb the work. If that's the goal of this Federal buyout, to truly reduce costs, but still get the job done, I'm all for it. If it's a way to simply get rid of people who are not fully behind Trump and replace them with loyalists like all of his other "employees", that reeks of something else.

Agreed 100%..Many ASSUME that any employee working from home is not doing productive work..That is simply not true of most.

I am also for saving money if some areas are overstaffed. Returning all employees to the office will cost more for buildings, upkeep, maintenance etc..

If the point is to save money, it will take having less employees doing the same amount of work that is now done.

Soccer, and MG, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. No way anyone will EVER convince me that people working at home are more productive than they would be in the workplace.

More distractions at home, more lack of getting up, getting dressed and being professional. My guess is if you work from home and your spouse doesn't get that luxury, you're the provider of rides to school, diaper changes and feeding. All of these take away from time on task.

I guess the tree hugger out there could say it saves gas and pollutants. Of course, it doesn't help the small businesspeople out there who have fewer lunch customers.

I think buying someone out just because they don't want to go to work is pathetic and I hope congress wouldn't provide those funds. If they want to buy out people in their close to retirement days, that's one thing. It happens in the corporate world every day. Don't buy out people who choose to stay home to avoid going to work.

No, the younger generation already wants four-day work weeks, two hundred personal time days a year and the best, emotional support days which make me want to puke.

The kids will never get that lost education back. We see scores in reading and math falling farther behind in the world stage. We shut down schools longer than any other country and we made no attempt to get that time back through extended school years or days when we finally put them back in the buildings.

Thank God for teachers who did everything they could to bridge the gap between school and pretend school.

Fast forward to a 3-hour homecoming with guided tours and one cowboy cop (with a garbage work record) murders an unarmed woman. Now all of a sudden it is break out the rifles and kill them time. Opi - yes, we will have to agree to disagree. I'm living it every day. If there are distractions that take time away from work, you'll find me working into the evening. There may be a difference in productivity among salaried vs hourly folks. I get paid the same whether it takes me 40 or 50 plus hours.

There are many distractions in office as well, socializing, unproductive meetings, interruptions. In office or out, you have to have structure, it's not for people who are not self starters. I think people who see it as a perk are motivated to do what is expected of them.

Do you have staff that answers to you in the chain of command or are you in any type of supervisory role?

Why is it so important for people who are paid with taxes to sit home while most of corporate America is still expected to show up every day?

In your job, are you in a position that requires you to answer to the public or to higher ups? Are the people you answer to in their offices or are they home too? At what point does someone actually go into the office to manage a department?

You may be an exception to the rule but in my world, you come to work, dressed appropriately or you turn in your two weeks notice which I tell you to spend at home.
