Trump isn't being charged with a crime, impeaching him and removing him is doing what the constitution has dictated in order to protect our democracy.
You really can't compare this to a criminal trial, If it was, you would have an impartial jury deciding the fate of those people. Do you think it would be justice if 7 of the jury members were family members of the accused or dependent on him?
I don't think of this as a waste of money, whether he is convicted and removed or not. He won't be, but the Dems had a duty to proceed with this and I'm sure you will agree, if the parties were reversed, the same scenario would be happening.
I don't understand how honest, fair minded people, who believe in our democracy think we should just ignore this, just let it go. Open the door for any President to use a foreign leader for personal gain.
Even though he won't be convicted and removed, I think this process will almost guarantee his defeat in the next election. There were a lot of people who voted for Trump only because they hated Hillary, I don't think they will vote for him again. I also can't imagine anyone who voted for Hillary will turn around and vote for Trump. Whoever the Dem nominee is you can bet their campaign ads and strategy will have impeachment, abuse of power, and obstruction of justice front and center.
