Ten years from now the high school is going to wonder why certain students decide to quit school. The answer could be because their introduction to education was at the hands of the teacher described in the original poster's message. The description of this classroom is perfect. It is stark, cold and totally devoid of any character that would spark the interest of a small child. She did take the time to pull out the pencil box from one student and the tennis shoes from another student that she threw in the trash can a few weeks ago. Who disciplines a five year old this way? Throwing their tennis shoes in the trash can? Throwing another one's school supplies in the trash can? Using childish behavior to discipline a five year old is inappropriate. This teacher has a sibling who sits on the Granite City District 9 School Board. She has no worries.
