This could have been a lower figure! Tammy Hanfelder was allowed to start a protest against my petitions one day past the deadline. After being told by Helen that it was too late it wouldn't be accepted, Tammy left the papers at the township and had the office manager sign receiving it. The rules state that the protest to a petition needs to be filed with the clerks office not left with the office manager. Then this was processed as a valid protest, the sheriff was paid to deliver it and there was also the cost of postage. Helen isn't the one who processed the paperwork either. It was done by another Township official. Helen only got a copy of it when she was told to get it to the post office for mailing! By this time the hearing date had already been set! The basis of the protest was that there was no page two of the signature sheet present, making it look as though I didn't turn it in! After checking the copy that I had and seeing that this was not the case, I did a FOIA request for the official file at the township that was actually turned in the morning of December 12, 2017 to prove that her protest was an invalid one. The morning that the hearing was supposed to take place Tammy called the Township office and withdrew it!
