I agree, Opie. I knew our upper level area representatives had completely sold us out when the railroad was allowed to develop that major switching yard in a protected wetland/cornfield sandwiched between major residential areas and a community college. They were even allowed to cut off a major access road to those areas, to boot. Our area planners and administrators with our zoning laws should have protected the residents and their property values. Instead? Well..... They sure gave Steve Latham (I think that's his name, please correct me if wrong) a hard time when he tried to develop that very same area. Cost him thousands of dollars, and years of efforts and red tape. It remained protected agricultural zoning. Then all of a sudden it became heavy industrial rammed down our throats to the point of causing personal hardships and costing public funds to build drainage to compensate for the added watershed. Only Helen Hawkins spoke up hard against the railyard, and she ran in to a brick wall at every level. It was very obviously already a done deal way before the media told us common folks about it. They aren't doing anything for Granite, but I believe things are going according to someones' plans.
