The Federal government should have no business in providing anything but protection of these states that are united and the laws according to the Constitution that upholds individual rights. All else, such as education, welfare and health care should be issues that the states monitor themselves. I'm no history buff, but I believe that is what the Civil War was fought about, not just slavery, but the states right to govern themselves. You know the story. The southern states weren't allowed to secede, so they waged a war. I doubt if any law about secession has changed, so is Texas willing to go to war?
