HC, you bring up another very good point. Why is it that out of town shopping center operators are allowed to leave old out of business signs up for such a long time? That Sweetie Pie restaurant has been vacant at least two years.

I heard CVS pharmacy was looking to open here. Is the economic developer working with them to try to get them in the old Big Lots? Seems like a good location right across from Walgreens. You might be right too. Why can't these slum operators be made to lower their rents to get tenants. If they don't want to do that, run your inspectors in there and write them up for everything from weeds to broken signs.

That crap car lot on the corner of Johnson and Nameoki is prime development as well but Gitcho is holding onto it for some humongous price. How about writing his ass up for his derelict properties?

I hate to compare us to E'ville because I know it's different but they continue to have development. The old Shennenigans hasn't been closed more than six months and they have a new owner. There's some new sports bar going up on 157 as well. Even Collinsville and Belleville continue to grow and they're closer to GC in demographics.

There has to be something wrong. I wish I could fix it. One thing I wouldn't do is continue to pay an "economic developer" when my economics weren't developing. Eddie can do most of this stuff himself.
