Drove around town after church this morning looking at some of the neighborhoods and homes for sale. I was not overly surprised at the sheer number.

However, when we got home I looked up several of them on the internet and was taken back by the low property values associated with them. I mean even in the "nicer" neighborhoods like Wabash Place and Legacy, seems like homes are being sold for very low amounts. That's a little worrisome.

If this downward trend continues, we'll have nothing left but rental properties or vacated homes in foreclosure. That's the beginning of the end.

I'm also very concerned that we continue to stall in commercial development. There are several empty stalls in the Nameoki Commons area. What's happened to the developer on Route 3 next to Lowe's. I thought that was supposed to be the next big thing. Other cities are building. What's the hold up?

I'm not sure what the answer is but if something doesn't break soon, I'm afraid my community is doomed and that makes me very sad.

For any aldermen or the mayor or the economic developer person, are there any plans in the near future for developers?
