Sorry you didn't see this Lib. It was my opening statement in the other thread about ACA. As Lisa points out in this thread, certainly not all companies will take this path however, let's remember this. The abusers have loopholes to continually take more from the pot. On the other hand, the business owners have good attorneys to find loopholes and ultimately control the employment of their staff. If I'm a franchisee of any restaurant I simply keep people below the magic 30 hours and make sure I stay under the 50 employee mandate. Then I watch those people who used to work for me walk on down the road.
Denny's franchises, Walgreens, Dunkin Products and numerous more are opting out of insuring their people. Companies are reducing their staffs, cutting hours to keep the employees out of the insurance pool etc... Unions in response are starting to question the negative effect on employment, especially in jobs that have good benefits alread.
