"If the cost of doing business goes any higher it will be easier for him to fold his tent. "
and someone else will come along and make the money he passed on...but that is not even what is happening with the ACA.
the only unions opposed to this are ones who use taft-hartley plans.
"The union (taft-hartley) plans were already more costly to run than traditional single-employer health plans. The Affordable Care Act has added to that cost — for the unions' and other plans — by requiring health plans to cover dependents up to age 26, eliminate annual or lifetime coverage limits and extend coverage to people with pre-existing conditions."
...
"Bob Laszewski, a health care industry consultant, said the real fear among unions is that "a lot of these labor contracts are very expensive and now employers are going to have an alternative to very expensive labor health benefits."
"If the workers can get benefits that are as good through Obamacare in the exchanges, then why do you need the union?" Laszewski said. "In my mind, what the unions are fearing is that workers for the first time can get very good health benefits for a subsidized cost someplace other than the employer.""
if the expensive healthcare plans offered before become even more expensive (as i said before, exceeding 9.5% of household income) then unions would be better off entering the healthcare marketplace. but that is blasphemous for people who collectively bargain for everything. fend for yourself and get something just as good (if not better) from somewhere else other than the employer? what a crazy idea!!!
skilled workers in a union should compensate for this through negotiating higher wages. the higher wages would offset the cost of marketplace expenses and in turn provide the same thing but BETTER.
i only see people afraid of change and drowning in ignorance.
i only see employers making greater profits from reduced costs of already overpriced labor health plans.
and...
i did ask you specifically why the ACA would cause layoffs. still awaiting a valid response.
