    To further expound, I've often tried to imagine what those menwere thinking as they came closer to the beach. I try to put myself in an 18 year olds (hell they're were probably many 16 year olds) shoes.

    The rain of lead and mortar must have been horrifying.

    Then to be standing next to your buddy one minute and then see him fall the next. . Probably pissing down your leg as the hatch opens and you hit the beach..KNOWING you have an infinitesimal chance to make it..but also knowing that these bastards up ahead MUST be stopped or this beach will be Mrytle Beach one day.

    The bell rung. . The men AND women of the United States answered it. And saved the world from tyranny.
