I am one of the candidates running for the School Board, and I was recently endorsed by the teacher's union, which I consider an honor. During my interview with the selection committee, I made it perfectly clear that I was making absolutely no promises beyond always being open to communication and discussion. There is no other reason for the union to endorse me other than supporting my vision and work ethic. I have no ulterior motive to my running for the Board. I can't speak for other candidates nor the union but I can say that I'm excited to be on the Board even in these rough times because this district needs someone young and innovative with an eye to the short and long term future. I have creative ideas for getting money and funding without raising taxes and a new perspective on education unlike other candidates and current members. Some think me crazy for wanting to "take-on" the challenge before all Illinois school districts. I simply think of it in a positive way; I cannot do it alone because it takes a village. I am willing to make the tough decisions if it means better education for the kids in this district and a continued sense of pride and passion for this community.
