Nells, I told you my post wasn't just meant to criticize. However, you're going to home school with less than adequate spelling and grammar techinique. That means your child has a better chance to fail in the job place. I know it sounds harsh but it's just meant as a point of reality.
Most curriculums do the teaching - parents are their to guide. The learning becomes more the responsibility of the child than the parent. Home schooled children are taught how to learn and the process becomes the reward.
I believe that a parent has a far greater interest in their childs education than any teacher. I also believe that a parent knows their child like no teacher who for an hour, over 12 weeks, with 30 students per hour, 6 hours a day, can. If she needs to brush up on English - that will be easier than some teacher trying to really know who Karen Smith, in 3rd hour English is and how she is doing and what she really needs to work on.
Mom will know, she will be right there watching every move. She will be able to focus on any weakness that her daughter may have and let her excell where she is strong. In a public school setting that is not possible - to many kids and not enough time to do individual analysis.
In all reality her daughter will probably fair better with individualized attention.
