I found some things out about my grandfather's immediate family from a 1930 census record on there, haven't done much more digging. One big hint, though, use the downtown library, the district has an institutional subscription to them, so you can research for free. When you get on a PC, look at to the right on the desktop, there will be an icon of a tree that says "Ancestry Library", click it and it will open ancestry.com, logged into their account....
