I looked for what you might have heard and found several articles on Sen. Dillard wanting to cut the sales tax off of gas. Right now IL pays both gas tax and sales tax, essentially getting taxed twice. We are one of few states that do this. Here's one article I found, that actually mentions the 20 cents saved at the pump if IL does get rid of sales tax.
