There's a lot of wisdom in that. It's like those funerals where no one sees the casket being lowered in the ground. We want to clean up death; we don't want people to see it or come to grips with it. Let's just gloss over it, say a few words in a pavilion and get back in the car. I think it's the same analogy here. When we get too politically correct, we lose out on the memory of something that was very real. We also become less free when we edit historical texts and literary works, IMHO.
