It's good that the book is still considered a classic and is still being read by our children. I believe altering the work does a severe disservice. I think it should stay in there. I believe in some ways society has lost some of its innocence, but it is good that the N word is out of most peoples' common parlance. It is good that the word just looks strange being used. But we can't re-write history and we cannot forget where we have been. We have made great strides in the area of eradicating racism, but to eradicate it from the historical record is to ignore that it ever existed. The way Twain wrote it, is the way it ought to appear.
