Me too, Metal--I've always carried health insurance, just in case something happened with my high risk occupation. I've never had to use it, before. Now, the premiums are high enough to be a burden, and yet, the deductible is enough to bankrupt us.
I was sent to Gateway for a test that cost me (out of pocket) $2400--I could have had the same test at Metro Imaging for $611. Why did Gateway cost so much more? And, why did the referring doctor give me no other options, when they readily exist?
The health care system knowingly sucks your money almost as badly as the politicians. I'm finding it hard to believe that they care about us, at all.
