I know alot of people don't like the bill, and I'll keep you updated on how it goes for me, but I've started the process to finally be able to get insurance for the first time since I lost my job.

I have several pre-existing conditions, and even getting healthcare at a job wouldn't help because I would have to wait out the pre-existing condition clause.

Right now, I'm in a program (because I'm unemployed) that I'm getting cheap-free medical care and meds. While that's better than nothing, I can't go see the specialists that I need to see. Besides that, I'd rather pay my own way and be able to choose which doctors I go to.

With the new high risk insurance plan, I get to do that. Even with the original state high risk plan, I would have had to wait out a pre-existing condition clause and pay outrageous amount per month. The new plan under the healthcare bill is very reasonable and has NO waiting period from the time I am accepted to the time I can get treatment. I'm very excited to say the least.

I haven't been able to get all the details yet, and I'll let you know if it's all its supposed to be, but regardless, at least there is a chance for me now. I just wanted to show you that there HAS been some good come out of it. I know there is alot of negativity about it and alot of complaints about having to "pay" for someone else's healthcare.

I'm proof though, that this HELPS people pay for their OWN healthcare, and that it is indeed a postitive step. Without this plan, once I went back to work, I would have been screwed. Now I'll have the best of both worlds.
