I never said that your pre-existing coverage was free I said: "has to cover people who already have problems and people who don't pay in." In fact, I have heard that pre-existing condition insurance is very expensive... for those that do pay for it. The problems are the flaws within the bill that was passed and they were not accidental. No cost health care has been extended to millions of people who did not qualify for free benefits in the past. In addition pre-existing condition coverage as expensive as it is does not cover the cost of care. They knew this when they passed the bill and that is why they made it illegal to not purchase health insurance. They are implementing the parts of the bill that benefit some first (good political move) but they didn't count on the negatives hitting as quickly as they have. They have made health care inaccessible for millions of lower middle-class American's who pay for health care but cannot afford the new higher deductibles and co-pays. I would be better off with no insurance at all. The whole purpose behind this was to create a single payer system that is fed off of payroll taxes similar to Medicare, but they screwed up the implementation (big surprise there). The result is you're getting care (and I'm happy for you, and I mean that honestly) but I and many others like me have lost our access to care even though we are still paying for it.
