This evening my wife and I went up to the Golden Coral in Collinsville to meet some friends. I forgot it was the night they gave a free meal to veterans. We got there before the crowd but when we left the line was out the door and half way around the lot.

First, what a nice thing for Golden Coral to do. I applaud them. Second, as we left I went up to numerous vets from young to old and shook hands and thanked them for their service. It made me feel better than them. A couple were in uniform on active duty. Several were from the Vietnam era. I saw two who served in Korea. The ones I got the biggest kick out were the real old timers from WWII. Snow white or no hair, bent over and walking slow but wearing their caps, their jackets or just a pin denoting where and when they served. Made me proud as hell to shake their hands and just say thanks.

What a great finish to a Monday. Thanks again to all of our military veterans.
