My plan was to turn the spacer from bar stock based on the rough dimensions of the crush sleeve when/if removed.
It will be a while until I can get out to the garage to measure the backlash and examine the teeth carefully. I won't need any specific measurement until I decide the spare diff is worth messing with. Unlike the oil pump, this one is really on the back burner... especially since my son says the car has made the noises I noticed all of the time he has driven it. Who knew!

: I modify an early MG front hub bearing
: spacer because the dimensions are good
: for the application and it just needs a
: couple mods, and because I have a box
: of used ones...
: The important number is to make it
: 1.490 thick, and shim from there. I do
: have noted that using this MG spacer,
: the small end bore has to be opened up
: to 1.00. I can mic one of them up for
: OD and big end ID if you want but they
: just have to be a good fit on the shaft
: & the inner bearing races. It needs
: to be stout as well, so if you make one
: from scratch make it strong enough so
: it won't collapse at all when the
: flange nut is tightened...
