Hi Josh, I wanted to know how do you like the AA program so for as RN,AA-S (registered nurse student anesthetist)?.
Also I'm curious to know were there any additional classes (advanced courses) you had to take in order to get into the AA program that you did not have as a nurse or did you already have under-grad/pre-med courses?
There are two nurses (RN,BSN) who I am very good friends with at my institution where I work who are now looking into applying to CRNA and AA program. Since I have introduce the AA profession to both nurses one (nurse) is definitely applying to CRNA & AA program, the other nurse is sticking to CRNA program only.
Why? CRNA school when I showed her what AA-Cs have to take in order to get into AA program such as taking the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test), Organic Chemistry with Labs and Calculus etc. she "Freaked Out".
Especially when I showed her a sample of the MCAT and Calculus I was lol when she reply by saying I'm going to school to become an Anesthetist not a Medical Doctor. She said she tips her hat off to AA-S's = A.A.-C. and Registered Nurses (R.N.,A.A.-C.) who go AA route.
She said she is looking forward to working with AA-Cs and learning from them (their "Medical" knowledge stand point as Anesthetist vs. "Nursing" knowledge stand point as Anesthetist) in the future when she comes out of CRNA school. She finds it very interesting and she supports me 100% in becoming an AA-C.
She said she thought the GRE was hard until she saw the MCAT, I told her she could do it ( go AA route, MCAT, pre-med core curriculum, Organic Chem, Calculus etc.).
Both are CVICU nurses, one of the nurses was very intrigue that she could go from AA-C practice to MDA practice as an R.N.,A.A.-C. Allied Health Profession Anesthetist (Physician extender Nurse Anesthetist/P.E.N.A.).
