Look at the course curriculum of AA programs Vs those for CRNA programs, taking into account the different backgrounds and therefore the different educational requirements to turn out competent providers from each, I really do not see one program being "better" than the other.
I would bet if anyone did a study, being careful to eliminate bias and other factors, the safety record of MDA/CRNA anesthesia would be the same as MDA/AA anesthesia.
As far as CRNAs being able to work independently, I have not seen one AA here making any claim that they would be the equal to a CRNA under those conditions, but since the law will not allow it, that argument is rather moot.
