1st attempt 1130. My GPA is pulled down due to old grades, 3.5 on everything since 2009. I was advised by 2 different people to not even address the poor grades of my past in my statement. At one point 1996 my GPA was under 2.0. It is now a 3.08 I have 50 hours of shadowing. The shadowing hours themselves are a pain in the ass to attain.

So if they weigh the most recent grades I am in line with their averages, albiet on the low side. Keep in mind they are averages.

I retook the GRE and my V score went up and my Q went down one notch. Since they favor the quantitative so much, I did not send them that score.

At the time of application, I had no health care experience. I have tried and tried and tried to get a job as an anesthesia tech to no avail. Meanwhile every tech I have encountered while shadowing appears to have a highschool education and most are not held in high regard by the AAs.

Currently, I just started an on the job training to become an MA and help with a research study for osteoporosis.

Debating whether I will apply a 3rd time if I don't get in. Starting to think about a general PA and focus on plastics or derma. I have a contact whose recommendation goes along way at Mercer.


Last year there was a guy who receives a rejection letter with a 3.7 and a 1250 on his GRE. He had more than the minimum shadowing hours. Go figure.
