Enough babbling about Emory: you just didn't get an interview

Between the nightly spam attacks and the incessant postings from the rejects who didn't receive invites to interview at Emory, I don't know which is more aggravating to keep seeing.

I can't do anything about the spam, but I CAN do something about the non-stop Emory posts. Face the facts, losers: you just didn't get an interview. You complain about Emory only giving a week and a half of notice before the interview, but how about this for a Reality Check (I know, I know, I'm too good): the reason you haven't been given any notice is because YOU'RE NOT INVITED!

How hard is it for some of you people to own-up to the simple reality that for this cycle, you just didn't have what it took to stand out from the rest of the pack? Depending on why you didn't receive an interview offer, you may or may not be able to improve your application for the proceeding cycle.

In the meantime, cease the whining and just accept the fact that it's not happening for you.

Get off this board and actually commit yourself to something productive. The people who are anxious are the ones that have wholly engaged themselves in wanting to pursue this profession, and they are the ones who makes the best anesthetists. Trust me. Good luck all you AA hopefuls out there. Tuesday will definitely shed some light.

Unless, this is not Michelle and someone else used your email address to post under two different handles: "AA hopeful" (in the inane thread) and "MDA" under this thread. Trust you? Please tell me how are you so credentialed as to determine who does and does not make the best anesthetists? Go back to hoping and wishing you get an interview. Maybe all ya'll who are hoping and wishing for interviews should have turned in early applications. Trush me...Pssssht.

I think it's safe to say that many of the hopeless, zero-chance applicants on this forum talk from a perspective of hopefulness and wishful thinking, not from a more sensible perspective of simple realism.

Those who haven't received an interview so far and who possess at least a modicum of intellect would have already gotten a head-start over the next cycle's applicants by preparing their re-application strategies.

Of the course, the irony is that if an individual was rejected flat-out without an interview, they most likely DON'T possess a modicum of intellect, and most certainly not the intellect of a future AA.

I'm way past the interview stage, son/daughter. You probably wouldn't get accepted to Emory even if you re-applied year after year for the same number of years I've practiced as an AA.

Have any of the applicants who I criticized and informed of their zero-chance likelihood of getting accepted to an AA program over the last few months proven me wrong? No -- after getting rejected, they tucked their tails between their legs and dragged themselves back into their dark little corners, too humiliated to return to this forum and admit that big, bad Reality Check was right.

At least I tried to do them the favor of helping to steer them into pursuing a profession that they actually possess the intellectual aptitude for.

So a pharmacist with 10 years experience doesn't have the intellectual aptitude? Doesn't pharmacy school cover all classes of drug interactions and effects on physiological processes?

Someone with a 3.7 GPA in their masters in Biology and over a 1300 on the GRE doesn't have a modicum of intellect?

"as long as I have practiced." - Most of the older AAs I have met readily admit the admission process is harder than ever, due to increased interest in the field.

I have met AAs who got in with a 3.0 average 7 years ago. Emory's percentiles on the GRE have been steadily rising. You undoubtedly work with people, who according to you, practice anesthesia without a modicum of intellect.

I believe I speak for everyone here when I tell you to go fvck yourself.

Agree with everything you said.

I have shadowed several AA's, and one of them said pretty much the same thing, which is that if they'd had to apply to AA school now and not 8 or 10 (or even just 3-4) years ago, they wouldn't have gotten in.

In fact, one of them told me that he wouldn't even apply to AA or CRNA schools now because of there being such a dramatically increased level of interest in terms of people wanting to pursue the profession; he thinks there will be some huge anesthesia midlevel oversupply soon.

I know a guy I went to elementary school with who is extremely intelligent - was in the gifted program, went to Georgia Tech, all that. I ran into him a couple months ago, told him what I was pursuing, and he said that a number of his friends from Georgia Tech were in Emory's AA program. So it sounds kind of like Emory has almost gotten used to having their pick of extremely competitive engineering program graduates, which makes it even harder for those of us who just aren't on that level.

Have you decided what you'll do if you don't get in this time? Also, just to get your opinion, do you think Emory will be sending out anymore interviews for this cycle? I'm crossing my fingers that more interview offers are going to be sent out tomorrow, but I kind of feel like it's over with at this point.

I'm not going to deny that intelligence is the primary factor for success in AA school/profession, but personality and social skills play a role as well.

There were several people in my class (including GT) who had...off putting personalities. Not surprisingly, they were the last people in our class to get jobs. You can be a 4.0 GPA, 34 MCAT applicant, but no anesthesia group wants to hire someone who can't fit in and be a team player.

You must very lonely. Why would you hang around a forum where a bunch of kids still trying to figure out what to do with their lives. Shouldn't you go out there and have a family and enjoying the fruit of your your labor and perhaps get a life? So what is your angle tough guy? What do you gain by being here? If you are so analytically minded, then you are aware that this forum is almost entirely made up of those wanting to know about this profession, CRNA vs AA bickering,and of course Nike advertisements. Those with a modicum of intellect can deduce that.

So if you are so smart,then you surely can go to a MDA board and rub elbows with other intellectual giants like yourself about the possible precipitates of two agents when mixed together.

Potential interview questions are looked down upon. 'What are my chances' threads are chided. 'I am a better student now than previously, can I overcome it' threads are scoffed at.

People who beat the matriculation stats still find themselves on the end of a computer generated general letter and are left scratching their heads.
Jerry Elder flat out sucks at returning emails and calls.

Yes the matriculating data is found on the website. Yes the salary info can be deduced via salary.com and some job postings.

Again, what are you doing here? There isn't any discussion about techniques of anesthesia. People are looking for insider information not available on salary.com or a schools website. People want to hear first hand information as opposed to some PR campaign of an association.

So what the #### are you doing here? What do you have to gain other than some sick infatuation with pissing on someone's career aspirations?

Go somewhere else. What is it about anesthesia that turns people into giant bags of douche?
