I watch this YouTuber who moved to Japan (from Aus) in her middle age, and how she manages the day-to-day life. She's really happy now, even though it was/is an adjustment. She teaches English too, though she's fluent in Japanese. If you don't already watch "Chani in Japan," I would recommend it. She has lots of tips for thriving over there, even on a limited budget.
