About 10 years ago, John noticed one of my frequent posts about the lack of an ‘as built’ Nagato from Navis (it’s in their catalogue, for crying out loud). Anyway, John noticed the post and emailed me. He offered to make me 2 copies of Nagato, as built, for a ridiculously small price. They arrived just before Christmas and were much, much better than I expected. They were certainly the best Christmas ‘presents’ I had in a very long time, and the memory I have of opening the box and seeing those ships for the first time always comes back this time of year.

Even though I own copies of the Mountford Fuso and Amagi, and the Hai Nagato, it’s the Nagatos he built just for me that I value the most.

He will be greatly missed by our community.
