    Thanks to all that offered their help and knowledge-I got everything put back together and the shotgun functions perfectly!

    I thought I'd add alittle info for the LC Smith gurus as it was stated in an earlier post that this was a first year run for this model.

    The barrel is exactly 26 inches long and both barrels have an inside diameter of .585 and a barrel wall thickness (at the muzzle) of .048.

    If my memory serves me correctly that equates to FULL CHOKE!!!! Unfortunately, my neighbor knows absolutely nothing about the history of this shotgun and as I stated earlier he's not a shooter anyway. I'm guessing that maybe one of his earlier relatives purchased this shotgun to shoot ducks and quickly realized that bigger would be better for waterfowl-especially with shells that would have been available for a 20ga in those days.
