Stan, I use the c clamp method. This is the way I first started using it and still do it. There are many different ways but I am comfortable with this method. The c clamp is 6" and I have drilled a 3/32" hole in the fixed top jaw. I used a piece of 3/32" drill blank 1 1/2" long and staked it in. I put a rubber cover over the pivoting jaw to protect the metal.
[ Make sure you put the lock plate on the left side or else the jaw could slip off the raised inletted wood and crack it.
