    Stan,
    I'll attempt to answer your questions, but in doing so I need you to re-examine the gun.
    First, there is a discrepancy in the serial number you furnished, as 20 ga. production started in 1907 with serial number 5000, and Field 20's started in 1913--SN 7000 (approx.). Are you sure that it is a Field and not a "OO" grade?
    Now-- your other questions--
    FWE stands for (FW) Featherweight, and "E") denotes ejectors.
    Regarding chamber length, 20 ga. guns could be ordered with 3" chambers, but, most likely has been altered aftermarket by someone, as I've never seen a FW 20 ga. gun with special-ordered 3" chambers, and Hunter never produced a Regular frame 20 ga. If I were you I would have a competent gunsmith measure wall thickness before firing the gun and, under no circumstances shoot it until doing so. DO NOT fire modern 3" shells in it, regardless of wall thickness.
