    My neighbor inherited this shotgun and doesn't really know anything about it. It's obvious it's a field grade gun but I was wondering if you could possibly relate alittle history of this particular 20 ga. Hunter Arms L.C. Smith FWE Field s/n 4809 such as what does FWE stand for,approx. year of manufacture, etc. The barrels say "armor steel" but both the chamber walls and barrels at the muzzle look awful thin and no, the barrels have not been cut.

    The barrels have extremely short forcing cones and the measurement from the outside chamber end of the barrel to just past the edge of the cut forcing cone is 3 inches-which surprises me. I'm assuming this shotgun is from the "teens" and was sure 20 gauges didn't start out with 3 inch chambers.
