Stan, I found it is best to keep the safety in the on position. This means you have to trip the top lever to move the safety. With the gun upside down, as you lower the trigger assembly in, watch the safety latch so that it looks like it is going into the safety notch. You can only see it so far and then you can't see anymore. Once you think it is in, don't go any further, then try to push the safety to off. If it does not go that means you missed the safety latch going into the safety notch. If it goes to off and you can move the safety back to on, finish the assembly.
