You are right- my 1907 Grade 2 has extractors-sometimes I get the terms confused- first you have to extract the shell or shells, then with the selective ejectors, the fired shell or shells are "kicked" clear of the breech. My mistake.
I have a friend with a Utica New York Fox 12 gauge waterfowling gun, with 32" inch barrels, and a single trigger-I prefer double triggers as I am a student of Marcus Aurelius, but, I digress here.
His gun has selective ejectors,if he sets the trigger mechanism for the right hand barrel to fire first, both barrels fire in proper order, but only the left barrel ejector works properly.
Conversely, if he sets the trigger to fire the left hand barrel first, and shoots twice, both shells sail out headed for Perdition on a fast express.
He has consulted with several gunsmiths about this-still a mystery. Did L.C. Smith have both a selective and a pre-set single trigger groups over the years? When did the first Smith single trigger appear? Are they reliable?
