    Jason:
I am glad we are looking at this question in depth, as it ia important information to the collector. You are absolutely correct at to what your referenced quote from the Legend Lives book states; however, you are aware from past conversations that I am not sure I am in agreement with everything I have read therein. That said, John may be correct. As I don't have a copy of the '49-50 Smith gun catalog, which catalog should clearly state what equipment is standard and what is optional for each grade; maybe someone who has a copy will post that information for our benefit. In the interim I will continue to think the extra equipment you noted is optional equipment, and at extra cost. As a side note, the novice collector seeing a post-13 graded gun (with the exception of those graded guns from the Curtis/push-button fore arm release era) will immediately see the roll-release/escutcheon and think the gun has ejectors; however, all graded post-13 Smith guns had the improved roll-release fastener wheather the gun was fitted with ejectors or not.
