Well after a year of trying to make a deal on this gun, I did it yesterday. I spent all day driving yesterday to pick this little jewel up.

It is a very late 1950 production .410. The serial number shows that it falls in the last few hundred made.

When I first got to see this gun last year, I noticed some things I found interesting about it. The engraving deviates every so slightly than what is considered the norm when it comes to Ideal Grades. The "dimpled" back ground isn't as deep as I have seen on say a 1916 Ideal 20g I am trying to buy. That particular gun's engraving is quite deep and distinct.

I noticed on a few other very late made guns, that the engraving isn't as "nice" as earlier versions. At any rate, I am very pleased with the gun.

As you can see, the gun is a two trigger extractor gun. It also has a Beavertail forend and has 28" barrels. I haven't checked the dimensions of the chokes yet so I do not know what it's choked at.

The wood is quite nice for an Ideal grade in my opinion.

I requested info from Cody prior to buying the gun and it checked out as it should save one item. They have the gun listed as having ejectors, this gun does not have ejectors.

This gun had to be special ordered as guns in this grade came standard with a Beavertail forend, single trigger and ejectors. This gun was not a standard issue order.

I am the 3rd owner of this gun. The gentleman whom I purchased this from bought it in 1973 from the original owner.

There is alot more to this gun's story but I will write that another time. I am trying to trace back it's history as I think it will make for an interesting story. Once I get all the facts, I will share it with you.
