Destry: You get around fella! Flight shooting geese in Aberdeen with 8 bores? Too cool. I have to ask, what do 8-gauge guns shoot like in terms of felt recoil and swing? I'm guessing these were doubles in the 14-16 lb range with what? 32-34 inch tubes? I may be admitting my shortcomings, but my 10 is pretty much at the upper limit for what I can shoot effectively all day long, and it's only at 9.5 lbs w/32-inch tubes. By the end of the day, my shooting starts to suffer because I'm pretty tired from swinging it and getting pounded by the recoil (I believe I figured out sometime ago that 3.5 inch shells throwing 1 5/8-ozs of steel at 1410-fps produce ~60-65 lbs felt recoil). I don't really feel it while shooting, but the effect seems to be cumulative. Mind you, duck opener in Minnesota usually follows many days (and miles) of walking-up ruffed grouse, as well as the resulting festivities during their preparation in the evenings. Perhaps I need to pace myself better? Less maceration of both game and men? LM
