This has nothing to do with a Parker, Fox, or Smith shotgun but it will illustrate what a 12 gauge shotgun will do in the hands of a man that knows how to shoot long range. The most consistent, and longest range shooting I've ever seen was a goose guide in Scotland. We were flight shooting geese on the shores of a loch near Aberdeen, even the low birds were pushing 50 yards. My friend and I were shooting heavy 8 gauge guns and getting a few down. The guide was shooting some kind of a little light Browning automatic with a short barrel and screw in chokes. He was using Winchester XX 3 inch catridges loaded with 1 7/8 of #4 copper plated. He could consistently kill geese at ranges that seemed unbelieveable. I'm talking 80-90 yards and sometimes not one but two birds out of a flock. At 60 or 70 yards he was absolute death and up to 90 he was consistent. He's been flight shooting geese off that loch since he was 14 years old and he's in his 50's now. I talked to him about it and he said he couldn't even really tell me how he did it. He just throws up the guns and shoots. All these long range guns are fun to talk about but it ain't the gun, it's the man behind it more than anything. If I've told this story on here before I'm sorry, just seemed fitting for this thread.
