I too find these stories of long range kills very interesting. Lead shot sure had a part in the long range killing effectiveness of these loads. It would be interesting to test these claims with todays standards and see just how they perform. Once my Eagle Grade, which is a Long Range Wild Fowl gun gets glass bedded, I will be interested in doing this very test. I learned some years ago to not totally dismiss such claims as I heard the late great archer, Fred Bear killed a Mountain goat running at 90 yards with his bow. I dismissed it totally, UNTIL, I saw it on film. Some of the late great hunters did amazing things.
