Spitfire 1500 - Quick Engine Rebuild

This is a start to a new thread following on from my recent engine pulley / oil leak thread. For those unfamiliar with the engine pulley thread, I tried rope down the bore of cylinder #4 as a method to keep the engine from turning while I removed the front pulley. My son and I applied way too much torque and damaged piston #4. So... our simple project to fix an oil leak has become an engine refresh task as a minimum. The head is already at the machine shop and tomorrow we should be able to pull the block so I can tear it down. Based on an improvised leak-down test with the head removed I anticipate finding that we collapsed the first compression ring gland on the piston and put the rings in a bind. Details of what we find will be posted to this thread over the next few days and weeks. Doug L.
