Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 Z13DJT 2009 - Oil life exceeded and non start, code P235f - Unresolved #

Year of Manufacture *: 2009
Engine Size and Code *: Z13DJT. Woloxce7594050842
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Solus
( Optional) Fault Codes: P235f

Starts and stops after 2 seconds. Code as above. Oil life exceeded. The INSP light on. This was noted by us last January but never put out. Her partner changed oil and filter,when I don't know. Changed oil and filter and put insp light out. Still not start but fault code no longer there. The code would not clear before. I did read that the ecu will need reset with tech 2 and an SPS programming of ecu will need to take place. This is the first time I have come across this. Can anyone out there throw some light on this problem. No codes now.

Did you also reset oil service, as well as service interval?

Hi Tony. Just put insp light out using trip button. Could not see any oil service facility. Solus only had how to put insp out which I have done many times using the trip button. Is there an oil service reset on this model as well as the insp light? Thanks for the reply.

I "think" I know where you are coming from Tony, but does that function have the importance to control a system shutdown ?

Carry out a system wide scan and report.

I'm guessing you mean engine code Z13DTJ and fault code P253F.

Vaux-com shows one of its updates includes oil life reset on this engine so it must be possible.

It wouldn't surprise me if this caused the vehicle not to start with some of the stupid ideas they have these days but could it be more like a DPF issue? Wrong oil used, failed regens and blocked DPF?

Just had a corsa that will start only for a couple seconds at a time with no codes. Suspected exhaust blocked or egr fault ( noted low air mass figure in live data ), was the egr stuck fully open.

That has just jogged my memory! I too had one of these but it was only in for a service and something else. I had the intake pipe disconnected whilst I was waiting for a part and I had to move it in and out of workshop. The thing would not run with no airflow through the MAF. Literally crank, start for a second and die no matter what you did with throttle. Pushed pipe back on and it was back to normal.

Thanks for all your input. Tony, it only has insp reset. No oil reset. It is a z13 DJT engine. This code could have been there for a long time and could be leading up the wrong path. Had a quick look this am. The fuel pressure with ign on is 6 bar and when turning over it is over 300 bar. No codes in any system that solus can read. Battery also in poor condition which limited my time this morning. Now on charge. All hoses from the air flow are intact. Keep your ideas coming. Never see this customer from one year to next apart from mot so will have to find what's been done. No warning. Car run 12 miles for shopping, started and drove 10 yards then cut out.

Hi Matt. 2nd attempt at a reply. Checking for spelling and disappeared from screen. Not this time so excuse any mistakes. Not a lot of progress. Last regen was 1300 miles with PDF 40% .fuel pressure when turning over is 300 bar and turning over at just over 300 revs. The volts at fuel pressure sensor when priming is.6 and when turning over is 1.7 scoped an injector and when firing the injectors are working then injector shuts down. Spoke to a friend who specialises in diesels and he said that if it gets to the stage of generating this code and too many incomplete regen it may shut down the ecu to save engine damage. This came in on Friday pm and I have been on and off when time allows so have decided to give the customer a courtesy car and book it to spend a little more time on it. I will of course keep you posted. Tony. You may be right about resetting the oil as well as the service. This may be found in the body control unit. The solus does not have this for the meriva . Does for corsa and Astra. Tried this but different key and no comms

Hi Les,
Although 1300 miles is long distance between last Regen, I don't think 40% soot loading is excessive.
Do you get chance to see differential pressure whilst car is running?

Can you get a Tech2, Vauxcom or even a KTS on it, as all those will reset oil service and, if necessary, carry out a forced regen.

Tony. Will only run for one second. Then next time you try the engine will not fire. No chance to check pressure.

Regarding the oil life, what about going in as a Fiat 1.3JTD (Punto Evo?).

What air flow readings do you get? Have you investigated EGR? Have you got reasonable exhaust flow, or could you try disconnecting the egr pipe to allow the exhaust to breath incase the DPF is blocked?

edit: sorry took a long time typing and didnt see about pressure, although you could watch live data when cranking.

Used another scanner. Egr stuck at 30% When this was removed, found to be stuck solid. DPF removed and also found to be chocked solid. The turbo too was found to be covered badly in hard carbon soot. How was this car running at all at the time it packed in. I do not have a lot of sympathy with the owner. Total lack of servicing and ignoring of the spanner light which I found out yesterday was on for over three months. A potential huge bill which she is unsure what the next step should be. Why was there not a code for egr and high pressure in DPF. As always with this type of job, I learned a lot. Do you think the high pressure in the DPF was causing the injectors to shut down?

I totally agree ' As always with this type of job, I learned a lot '. Always seem to get busy with breakdowns, MOT failures and Emergency's when these sort of jobs come in & you can not always get a clear run at them. But when you get a minute to sit down & work it out you learn so much & being independent you have to know everything about everything. But so rewarding as a another problem solved

It all started with oil quality being seen as dimimished.
The ECU then stops regen and the DPF just carried on filling.

Plus Snappy scanners miss so much on some vehicles ..
