I would have said the pressure reading should rise when blocking the tail pipe.(bearing in mind it is a differential sensor not a pressure sensor)
Seen one off these with the pipes to sensor totally blocked.
Try a manual gauge at front sensor output or maybe try disconnecting DPF from front pipe.
I would concentrate on addressing the back pressure first, Then look for DPF codes second..
